Careers Events 

Attend Careers Conferences and Careers Fairs by registering for an account on CareerConnect.

Recent graduates can also access our Kick Start Your Career workshops. If you recently completed your degree at Oxford and feel that your career needs a boost, you can come to this free one-day intensive course designed to help you to get your career moving. Professional Networking Events

A series of sector-specific professional networking events for Oxford alumni, usually held in London. Previous topics for these evening events have included science communications, publishing, careers in the moving image industry, healthcare and technology, business, charities and NGOs, international development and governance, teaching, and journalism.

Continuing Professional Development

A range of professional development opportunities for Oxford alumni is provided by both the University and external organisations. Some examples are listed below. The Department for Continuing Education's CPD Centre provides flexible, part-time courses for professional development in a very wide range of disciplines, including:

  • Biosciences

  • Electronics, telecoms and engineering

  • Environment and sustainability

  • Humanities and social sciences

  • Leadership and public policy

  • Management, business and presentation skills

  • Medical and health sciences

  • Nanotechnology and nanomedicine

Courses may take the form of workshops, seminars, short courses and online courses in addition to certificates, diplomas and Masters degrees. The portfolios are constantly updated to provide the best skills training for professionals and academics in the UK and abroad.

Benefits for alumni: Discounts are offered to Alumni Card holders on selected professional development courses at the discretion of the portfolio manager. Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment

A suite of Executive Education programmes to engage working professionals with climate change and long-term environmental sustainability.

Oxford Adaptation Academy: 14 to 26 August 2016

Jointly organised by the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment and the Global Climate Adaptation Partnership, the Academy brings climate practitioners together to discuss the links between climate science, vulnerability and decision making. Previous participants include representatives from the UNFCCC, Asian/African/Inter-American Development Banks, NGOs and national governments.

Women Returners’ Return to Work Coaching Programmes

Oxford alumnae are offered a 10% discount on the following programmes:

Women Returners works with individuals and organisations to support the return to work of highly-qualified professional women. The Return to Work Coaching Programme will help to develop self-understanding, determine real options and plan a clear and confident route back to work. The programme consists of six hours of one-to-one coaching with qualified and experienced coaching professionals who have personal experience of combining work and family. Coaching can be face-to-face or by telephone/Skype. Find out more
