Highlights

  • Lecture by Dr Hugh Doherty (Christ Church, 1997) on the medieval history of Norfolk, outlining the history of the city of Norwich (which will be the base for the tour) and the county of Norfolk.
  • Private visit to Houghton Hall, built in the 18th century by Sir Robert Walpole, and regarded as one of the finest examples of Palladian architecture in England.
  • A full day visit to Walsingham Abbey Grounds and Blackeney, accompanied by your scholars. You will explore the medieval village and the grounds of the former Augustinian Priory founded in 1153.
  • Visit to the ancestral seat of the Coke family, Holkham Hall, with a private visit to the stunning state rooms which house a remarkable collection of art.
