Organised by:
Careers Service
Free to alumni

The Alumni Careers Programme Manager of the University, Dr Mike Moss FRSC FRSA, invites alumni to bring along their teenagers to the careers service to answer their questions about careers and employability skills. At least one alumna/us parent must attend the whole workshop and teenagers must be 13-19 years old. We have an opportunity to live our lives (part of the time) over the next few years so that we have the most compelling possible CV by the time we are looking for jobs.

  • What employability skills are recruiters looking for?
  • How do we prove we have those skills?
  • What is the most compelling way to write about our skills?
  • How can we plan a career with so much change and uncertainty?
  • Do we focus or do we keep our options open?
  • Which is more important, academic study or extracurricular experience?
  • How do graduate schemes and internships work?
  • What did Bill Gates do as a teenager to allow him to start the biggest company in the world at 19?
