OUS Madrid - Celebrating Christmas in style, jointly with Cambridge

The OUS Madrid group held its traditional Christmas Dinner on 19 December, jointly with friends from the Cambridge Association in Madrid.

Nearly 50 alumni and partners attended the reception, followed by dinner, at the Real Gran Peña, one of Madrid’s oldest and most prestigious private clubs.

H. E. Mr. Simon Manley, British Ambassador to Spain (and Magdalen College, Oxford) attended as Guest of Honour.

He gave a witty and sparkling speech, about the excellence and international standing of British universities, and Oxford and Cambridge in particular.

Andrew Moore (Oxford University Society, Madrid) and Ralph Smith (Cambridge Association Madrid) acted as joint hosts.

Former Spanish Ambassador to London, Felipe de la Morena, also spoke. We toasted H.M The Queen, the King and Queen of Spain and our two universities.
