OUS Canberra (ACT) - Oxbridge British High Commission Reception
A total of 89 members and their guests from the Oxford and Cambridge Societies, Canberra, ACT (Australian Capital Territory) groups, attended a drinks and canapes reception at the residence of the British High Commissioner, Her Excellency, Menna Rawlings.
On a beautiful sunny Canberra evening guests were able to mingle in the extensive gardens of the High Commission, which sits atop a hill in one of the most exclusive suburbs in Canberra.
Menna Rawlings, in her speech of welcome, indicated the contribution that Oxbridge graduates had made both in Britain and Australia, while Professor John White, the President of the ACT Oxford Society, commented on the Oxford-Australia Scholarships and his pleasure that four of the recipients had returned to Australia and were in the audience.
Thanks also go to Mark Rawlings for his efficient organisation, including delicate portions of fish and chips in the canapes served.
