Military historian Professor Sir Hew Strachan reflected on the 2014 commemoration activities of the beginning of the First World War at a recent alumni reception in Canberra.
Thirty-six members of the Oxford and Cambridge Australian Capital Territory (ACT) societies attended the drinks and canapes reception at University House, Australian National University (ANU) to hear Sir Hew’s talk.
In March the Uruguay Oxonians group met for a very enjoyable evening in Punta del Este. The format was a blind tasting of six Pinot Noir wines from the region kindly organised by Jonathan Lamb. Aficionados might be interested to know that the overall favourite was Aliwen Reserva Pinot Noir from Chile.
Thanks go out to our gracious hosts Jacobo Wolkowicz and his wife Lizzy for providing their beach house with spectacular sunset included. See you all soon!
