Accessing the Bodleian in Oxford

All graduates of the University of Oxford are entitled to apply for free admission to Oxford library services. Contact the Bodleian Admissions Office or telephone +44 (0)1865 277180 for more details.

Scan and Deliver

Scan and Deliver is now available to all current Bodleian Library card holders.

There is now a Scan and Deliver service for items held in the Bodleian Libraries Book Storage Facility. Instead of requesting the physical item to a reading room, you can request scans of sections direct to your desktop. See more at: http://www.bodleian.ox.ac.uk/using/scan-and-deliver

Join the Friends of the Bodleian

University of Oxford Botanic Garden and Harcourt Arboretum

The University of Oxford Botanic Garden is the oldest Botanic Garden in Britain, and is the most compact, yet diverse, collection of plants in the world. It is open throughout the year, and differs from other types of gardens as it represents collections of plants that are grown for purposes other than purely aesthetic reasons.

Harcourt Arboretum has been part of the University of Oxford since 1963. The site comprises 130 acres containing the best collection of trees in Oxfordshire with some of the oldest redwoods in the UK. Seasonal highlights include wildflower meadows, rhododendrons and bluebell woods. It is open throughout the year.

Oxford University Museum of Natural History

The Oxford University Museum of Natural History houses the University's scientific collections of zoological, entomological, geological, palaeontological and mineralogical specimens, accumulated in the course of the last three centuries.

They are devoted to the history and diversity of life on Earth and the rocks and minerals that form it.

The Pitt Rivers Museum holds one of the world’s finest collections of anthropology and archaeology, from around the world and throughout human history. It is an active teaching department of the University of Oxford, and also continues to collect through donations, bequests, special purchases and through its students, in the course of their fieldwork.
