Discounted Tickets for Oxford Alumni 


The Oxford Alumni Office is delighted to announce a 10% discount on tickets to all events (excluding lunches and dinners) at the 2013 Oxford Literary Festival, due to take place from 16 – 24 March. This offer is exclusively for Oxford alumni and recognises our continuing partnership with the Literary Festival, which is going from strength to strength.

Booking has recently opened for the Festival and details of the programme are available at the Festival's official website.  While the majority of events have already been announced, there are more to come in the next few weeks so do check back for updated information.

All tickets should be booked directly with the Literary Festival. You can book online via the Festival  website, by telephoning 0870 343 1001, or by visiting the Oxford Playhouse in person. To claim your discount, please quote ‘Oxford Alumni’ (please note that the discount can only be claimed when booking by telephone or in person; it is not available for online bookings).

Oxford Author Events on Saturday 23 March

For the first time, we have teamed up with the Oxford Literary Festival to offer a series of events featuring Oxford authors and academic staff on the second Saturday of the Festival.

The following events on Saturday 23 March are offered in partnership with the University of Oxford Alumni Office:

12noon: Ever the Diplomat - Sherard Cowper-Coles

12noon: The Glamour Decade? Amis, Larkin and other 1950s writers – John Carey, DJ Taylor and Richard Bradford                             

12noon: The Old Ways: A Journey on Foot – Robert Macfarlane talks to Andrew Holgate

12noon: Silence in Christian History – Diarmaid MacCulloch

2pm: The Brain Supremacy: Notes from the Frontiers of Neuroscience – Kathleen Taylor

4pm: Iron Curtain: The Crushing of Eastern Europe – Anne Applebaum

To ensure Oxford alumni can access each of these events, an allocation of tickets has been set aside at each event for alumni and Alumni Office staff will be present throughout the day.

Please book for any of the above events in the usual way with the Oxford Literary Festival (places are first come, first served). When booking tickets by telephone or in person, please remember to claim your 10% discount by quoting ‘Oxford Alumni’. 

Oxford Literary Festival Drinks Reception for Authors and Oxonians

Following the programme on Saturday 23 March, the University of Oxford Alumni Office, in partnership with the Oxford Literary Festival, is pleased to offer Oxonians a chance to mingle with a number of Oxford authors and Festival-speakers at this exclusive event. Join us for drinks and canapés in the elegant surroundings of the Ballroom of the Randolph hotel.

Authors currently confirmed to attend the reception include Richard Bradford, Robert MacFarlane, Diarmaid MacCulloch, John Carey, Kathleen Taylor and David Taylor.
