Oxford University Language Centre

Submitted by paull on Wed, 2016-10-19 11:44

The University's language centre offers a wide range of courses across 12 modern languages with flexibility for all, from intensive short courses to in-depth three-term programmes. They run from daytime to early evening, Monday to Friday, to suit your schedule.

Our Languages for All programme offers you three different pathways. All our courses are calibrated on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) for Languages.

  • General languages stages 1-7: This pathway spans flexibly either over weekly two-hour classes from weeks 2 to 7 of term inclusive or as a one-week 15-hour Intensive course just after the end of term, in week 9. It covers all Stages from Stage 1 beginners to Stage 7 proficient (C1).  You can opt to enrol for all three terms or term by term. If you enrol for all three terms, the third term is half-price. Entry is first-come, first-served, with Priority places available for those supported by their college/department as having a strong academic need. The alumni price is £125 per term (normally £150).
  • Fast track stages 1-5: This pathway is designed for those who are motivated to learn faster and covers two stages per year over three terms. It is available from Stage 1 beginners to Stage 5/6 advanced (B2). It runs twice-weekly across (2 hours + 1 hour) in term-time. In Michaelmas it starts in week 2 through to week 8 inclusive and in Hilary and Trinity terms it runs from weeks 1 to 8 inclusive. It is a selective entry course. The alumni price is £600 per year (normally £700).
  • Academic stages 1-3:  This pathway is specifically designed to address the professional and research needs of students and staff and supports them in being fully able to engage globally with their field of specialisation. The course mainly focuses on developing reading in the target language but offers support in other skills if required. It covers 3 different Levels, from beginners to advanced. It runs weekly as a two-hour class from weeks 2 to 7 of term inclusive. You can opt to enrol for all three terms or term by term. If you enrol for all three terms, the third term is half-price. French, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish are available in this pathway. The alumni price is £125 per term (normally £150).

For more information, and to enrol on a course head to the Oxford University Language's Centre website.
