These days, Burgundy is renowned for its wine and bucolic charms while the extent of its role in European history is perhaps overshadowed by later empires. Yet in its late medieval heyday when Burgundy was a Kingdom in all but name, Burgundian lands were
the stage for many pioneering events, from religious reformism and colonialism to industrial manufacturing and development of capitalism.

Nirvana Romell's talk explained how Burgundy's ground-breaking advances in politics, art and culture affected the course of European history.

This talk was part of the Cambridge Alumni Travel programme, and was organised by Distant Horizons who arranged am alumni journey to Burgundy in September 2023 accompanied by Nirvana Romell.
