EMAIL FORWARDING SERVICE FAQS

Expand All

The current University email forwarding service is now over ten years old and is showing heavy signs of wear and tear. It has become more and more untenable to facilitate, and crucially, emails sent via the service can no longer be guaranteed for delivery. A decision has been made to close it permanently from Wednesday 28 April 2021

We fully acknowledge that such a service is still a valuable benefit to our alumni, and to that end, we are upgrading this service to a new UK based provider, Aluminati (https://www.aluminati.net/).

Nothing. We fully acknowledge that such a service is still a valuable benefit to our alumni, and to that end, we are upgrading this service to a new UK based provider, Aluminati (https://www.aluminati.net/).

You will have received an email notifying you of this upgrade. If you choose to continue using the service, the migration process will ensure that your email forwarding will continue to operate without interruption.

However, whilst we will endeavour to create a seamless transition, there may be a very minimal loss of service on the day of the switch. Once migrated, you will have access to a specialist email support team at Aluminati who will be able to resolve any issues or answer any questions you may have about the new service.

If you are still a user of your Oxford email forwarding account, you will have received an email with notification of the upgrade and instructions on what to do next.

No. Your forwarding address will remain the same unless you decide to change it in the new service.

Yes. The email forwarding service will remain free of charge.

No. As this is still a forwarding service to your native email address, it will not affect any folders you may have set up in your native email account.

Aluminati are a UK based organisation that specialise in educational digital solutions. Aluminati operates worldwide with customers in the UK, Netherlands, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand and Canada, with clients such as the University of Cambridge, LSE, University of Manchester, UCL and many more.

You will have received an email notifying you of the process. If you wish to discontinue using the service, or you do not wish us to send your details to the new supplier, please email the following information to enquiries@alumni.ox.ac.uk:

  • Name

  • Email address

  • Forwarding Address

  • Oxford Number (formerly alumni number (if known))

You must let us know by no later than noon on Monday 26 April 2021 that you wish to be removed and your service will then terminate on Wednesday 28 April 2021
