There are currently nearly 400,000 Oxford alumni around the world, with approximately 170 regional, identity and interest based alumni groups. Wherever you are, you are sure to find Oxonians near you and a warm welcome. Alumni groups are run by dedicated alumni volunteers who provide a vital connection with the University of Oxford, supporting current and prospective students and connecting alumni through shared interests. Some of the groups are run jointly with Cambridge alumni. Joining your alumni group is a brilliant way to stay connected and in touch with the University. Find out more about the work of our alumni volunteers through Network News.
If there is no alumni group in your local area and you are interested in starting one, please get in touch. Email the Alumni Networks team today.

Our alumni groups host events worldwide to give offer holders a key insight into Oxford, and to welcome them as they embark on their exciting educational journey at the University
Alumni groups - You can make a big difference to new students in your area! These New Oxford Student (Fresher) Events provide a great opportunity for introducing the new cohort of students to your group and its members. These events provide new students with the opportunity to ask questions to those who have already studied at Oxford. Events are promoted directly to the students, and we have received great feedback - please get involved and contact the Networks Team for more information.
New Oxford students - Alumni Groups host both online and in-person events and these range from meeting up at a local bar, to dinner or a picnic in the park. You will be able to meet with other students from your home town or area who are also embarking on studies at Oxford. Events start taking place from August onwards and details for 2026 will be listed below (please keep checking this page, it is being constantly updated as new events are notified).
Current Oxford students and recent graduates - you can share your knowledge of life at Oxford and really help new students feel welcome before they have even arrived at Oxford. Please feel free to contact the alumni groups directly and let them know you are a current student or recent graduate and you'd like to volunteer your time to help the new intake!

The Alumni Network Supporting Oxford Students
Financial support is available to Oxford students thanks to the regional Oxonian alumni group network.
Alumni bursaries have allowed previous recipients to undertake a variety of internships, field work, and research project at home and abroad. We are very grateful to the groups and their members for supporting students in this way. Examples of how the bursaries have been used include:
- Running palliative care clinics in Malta
- Presenting a research paper at the Metabolic Engineering Conference, Singapore
- Working with Medical Volunteers International in Greece
- Internships in Law, Financial Investment, Pharmaceutical, Languages, Bioengineering
- Fieldwork studying crustaceans in Honduras and bat habitats in the Azores
- Staging a play at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival
This year, three UK alumni groups and one European alumni group are offering grants to students (who must be from the local alumni group area/country or who have a strong and provable connection to the region) for projects taking place over the summer break 2026. The projects must show a proven link to academic studies.
Please note that the Alumni Office does not manage the application process; you need to contact the groups directly with any questions and to receive the application forms. The groups all have various methods of application, and different deadlines, so please make sure that you read the guidelines carefully before applying.
The groups offering bursary support in 2026 are:
The Oxford University Society of Cornwall, is offering different types of bursaries of £350-600 to assist undergraduates with strong Cornish connections. Please send a one page CV with a personal statement and Cornwall connections, and a one page outline of the internship or project. Please note, the projects must be undertaken before September 2026. Normally only one award will be given to each student during their academic studies. The scheme is available to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. The deadline for applications is 15 April 2026.
(Please note: the deadline for Medical Electives abroad has passed for 2026. The deadline for 2027 applications is 10 January 2027)
More information about the scope of these bursaries is available on the OUS Cornwall website or contact Professor Fenella Wojnarowska
The Oxford University Society of East Kent, is planning to make several grants of up to £1000 to undergraduate or postgraduate students. The awards will be based on the relevance of the project to the degree courses and the likelihood that the amount will be sufficient, when added to other resources in hand, to achieve the stated goals. These grants will not be limited to activities that entail travel abroad nor will they be limited to summer projects. Applications should be submitted between 1 May - 28 June 2026.
Please visit OUS East Kent website to find out more.
The Oxford University Society of East Sussex, is offering a bursary of up to £400 to support an undergraduate undertaking work experience or an internship. The deadline for receipt of applications is 27 March 2026 and notifications will be sent out by 1 May 2026.
Please contact Tim Hancock to find out more.
The Oxford and Cambridge Alumni Club of Hungary (COACH), is offering scholarships of up to £500 to support the academic and personal development of students. Eligible students must be enrolled in full-time study and have at least six months remaining in their studies or have proof of admission to continue their studies on another course (e.g. master's after bachelor's or PhD after master's). The deadline for receipt of applications is 12 noon, Friday 13 March 2026.
Please visit COACH website to find out more.
The Alumni Networks team will be mailing all students with a connection to these regions in early 2026. Please look out for the mailing or contact the groups concerned to find out more about the financial support on offer. Good luck with your applications.
